Happy Monday Everyone!

This week, I read three YA books.

Everything is Teeth by Evie Wyld

Everything is Teeth is a graphic novel that talks about a young girls interest in sharks. Something I did not realize until after I put in into my Goodreads is that this story is about the author! Overall, reading it was interesting. The story was not my favorite but the illustrations were very cool with a mixture of real images. It is also a quick read which I appreciate!

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Screen Shot 2019-02-26 at 6.28.22 PM.pngDivergent is set in a world that is fun by factions. Each of these factors has a different task that helps the society run smoothly. When teenagers turn sixteen, they are given a test that tells them which faction to go into however, they can choose different factions at the Choosing Ceremony. This book focuses on Beatrice (Tris) Prior who finds out she is Divergent because her tests told her three factions instead of one. This is very dangerous but we do not figure out why until later on. At the Choosing Ceremony, Beatrice chooses Dauntless. During the Dauntless training, Tris changes her name and finds out that she can be cut from Dauntless and become factionless (this is the equivalent of being homeless). The rest of the book follows Tris through the Dauntless training and how she is going against the corrupt faction, Erudite with her love interest Four (her Dauntless instructor). I really loved reading this book. I found myself unable to put it down and I was so excited to finish it and move onto the next book. I would highly recommend this series!

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Screen Shot 2019-02-26 at 6.42.47 PM.pngInsurgent is the second book of the Divergent series. Again, this follows Tris and we are able to catch up with her and Four after they left the city in order to leave the corruption. We learn at the beginning that Erudite has overpowered the rest of the factions and is working on getting those who are Divergent in order to find what simulations work on them. Throughout this book, Tris and Four work with a variety of people in order to take down the leader of the Erudite faction. I enjoyed this second novel of the series as well. They both have a lot of other things going on that I did not include because I did not want to spoil it but I would highly recommend picking them up!

Happy Reading!

    1. Oh my goodness! I just finished the last book yesterday and I am devastated! Have you read Four? I have it but I am not sure I want to read it because I feel I already know enough about Four it would be repetitive…

  1. Everything is Teeth looks interesting! A memoir with mixed media illustrations? Sign me up. I enjoyed the Divergent series in high school, although not near as much as Harry Potter or The Mortal Instruments. I’ll have to re-read them sometime in the near future!
